Barbie films, which were originally aired on Nickelodeon and distributed on home video formats, had Barbie playing the center character. Like the dolls, Barbie movies have also been a huge success, selling over 110 million units worldwide as of 2013.

As of October 2022, 41 Barbie movies have been released. The first phase of movies between 2001 and 2009 were mostly adaptations of previous existing stories.
